FISHING - The creek there at the cabin is not deep enough for any large fish. We've seen a few small trout float through. Most of the creeks in the area are shallow and you won't find good fishing in them. However, on the way to the cabin you will cross Nottely River at a bridge. On one side there is a home, but on the other side of the bridge, fishing is allowed & I frequently see people fishing there. A temporary fishing permit would be required for any public waters. Since we never have time to fish when we're there as we're always working, I don't know the cost of the permit. I went on the wildlife website to inquire, but the prices were not provided. If you call 800-366-2661 they will be glad to provide you with different options and prices. There is also, about 10 minutes from the cabin off of Hwy 129, a place called Goose Creek Island, very easy to find. They have a nice trout pond and I understand that they charge by the pound of what you catch on any given day. GOLF
- The Butternut
Creek Golf Course is only a few miles away
and it is open to the public.
