AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#AMERICA-THE-BEAUTIFUL
America the Beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.
Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.
Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine,
Choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain.
From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
and a need to always pray.
We've kept God in our temples,
how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.
We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges
who throw reason out the door,
Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the womb.
You think that God's not angry,
that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?
How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?
If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:
Then God will hear from Heaven
and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.
But, America the Beautiful,
if you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God withdraw
His hand from Thee.

GRANDPA'S HANDS - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#GRANDPAS-HANDS
Grandpa, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. He didn't move, just sat with his head down staring at his hands. When I sat down beside him he didn't acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if he was OK. Finally, not really wanting to disturb him but wanting to check on him at the same time, I asked him if he was OK.
He raised his head and looked at me and smiled. "Yes, I'm fine, thank you for asking," he said in a clear strong voice.
"I didn't mean to disturb you, Grandpa, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were OK," I explained to him.
"Have you ever looked at your hands," he asked. "I mean really looked at your hands?"
I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point he was making. Grandpa smiled and related this story:
"Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled, shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life.
They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the floor.
They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back.
As a child my Mother taught me to fold them in prayer.
They tied my shoes and pulled on my boots.
They held my rifle and wiped my tears when I went off to war.
They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and bent.
They were uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn son.
Decorated with my wedding band they showed the world that I was married and loved someone special.
They wrote the letters home and trembled and shook when I buried my parents and spouse and walked my daughter down the aisle.
Yet, they were strong and sure when I dug my buddy out of a foxhole and lifted a plow off of my best friend's foot.
They have held children, consoled neighbors, and shook in fists of anger when I didn't understand.
They have covered my face, combed my hair, and washed and cleansed the rest of my body.
They have been sticky and wet, bent and broken, dried and raw.
And to this day when not much of anything else of me works real well these hands hold me up, lay me down, and again continue to fold in prayer.
These hands are the mark of where I've been and the ruggedness of my life.
But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home.
And with my hands He will lift me to His side and there I will use these hands to touch the face of Christ ."
I will never look at my hands the same again. But I remember God reached out and took my Grandpa's hands and led him home.
When my hands are hurt or sore or when I stroke the face of my children and wife I think of Grandpa. I know he has been stroked and caressed and held by the hands of God. I, too, want to touch the face of God and feel His hands upon my face.

![]()
Whatever your cross, whatever your pain,
There will always be sunshine after the rain.
Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall,
But God's always ready to answer your call.
![]()
He knows every heartache, sees every tear,
A word from His lips can calm every fear.
Your sorrows may linger throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish at dawn's early light.

The Savior is waiting somewhere above
To give you His grace and send you His love.
Whatever your cross, whatever your pain,
God always sends rainbows after the rain.
I'M FINE, HOW ARE YOU? - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#I-AM-FINE
There's nothing the matter with me,
I'm just as healthy as can be,
I have arthritis in both knees,
And when I talk, I talk with a wheeze.
My pulse is weak, my blood is thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

All my teeth have had to come out,
And my diet I hate to think about.
I'm overweight and I can't get thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

And arch supports I need for my feet.
Or I wouldn't be able to go out in the street.
Sleep is denied me night after night,
But every morning I find I'm all right.
My memory's failing, my head's in a spin.
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.

Old age is golden I've heard it said,
But sometimes I wonder, as I go to bed.
With my ears in a drawer, my teeth in a cup,
And my glasses on a shelf, until I get up.
And when sleep dims my eyes, I say to myself,
Is there anything else I should lay on the shelf?

The reason I know my Youth has been spent,
Is my get-up-and-go has got-up-and-went!
But really I don't mind, when I think with a grin,
Of all the places my get-up has been.

I get up each morning and dust off my wits,
Pick up the paper and read the obits.
If my name is missing, I'm therefore not dead,
So I eat a good breakfast and jump back into bed.

The moral of this as the tale unfolds,
Is that for you and me, who are growing old.
It is better to say "I'm fine" with a grin,
Than to let people know the shape we are in.
I'M FINE!! HOW ARE YOU?
DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN? - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#DO-YOU-REMEMBER-WHEN

The little house had three bedrooms and one car on the street, A mower that you had to push to make the grass look neat.

In the kitchen on the wall we only had one phone, And no need for recording things, someone was always home.

We only had a living room where we would congregate, Unless it was at mealtime in the kitchen where we ate.
We had no need for family rooms or extra rooms to dine, When meeting as a family those two rooms would work out fine.
We only had one TV set, and channels maybe two, But always there was one of them with something worth the view.

For snacks we had potato chips that tasted like a chip, And if you wanted flavor there was Lipton's onion dip.

Store-bought snacks were rare because my mother liked to cook, And nothing can compare to snacks in Betty Crocker's book.

Weekends were for family trips or staying home to play, We all did things together -- even go to church to pray.

When we did our weekend trips depending on the weather, No one stayed at home because we liked to be together.
Sometimes we would separate to do things on our own, But we knew where the others were without our own cell phone.

Then there were the movies with your favorite movie star, And nothing can compare to watching movies in your car.
Then there were the picnics at the peak of summer season, Pack a lunch and find some trees and never need a reason.

Get a baseball game together with all the friends you know, Have real action playing ball -- and no game video.

Remember when the doctor used to be the family friend, And didn't need insurance or a lawyer to defend?
The way that he took care of you is what he had to do, Because he took an oath and strived to do the best for you.
Remember going to the store and shopping casually, And when you went to pay for it you used your own money?
Nothing that you had to swipe or punch in some amount, Remember when the cashier person had to really count?
The milkman used to go from door to door, And it was just a few cents more than going to the store.

There was a time when mailed letters came right to your door, Without a lot of junk mail ads sent out by every store.
The mailman knew each house by name and knew where it was sent; There were not loads of mail addressed to "present occupant."
There was a time when just one glance was all that it would take, And you would know the kind of car, the model and the make.

They didn't look like turtles trying to squeeze out every mile; They were streamlined, white walls, fins, and really had some style.

One time the music that you played whenever you would jive, Was from a vinyl, big-holed record called a forty-five.

The record player had a post to keep them all in line, And then the records would drop down and play one at a time.
Oh sure, we had our problems then, just like we do today, And always we were striving, trying for a better way.

Oh, the simple life we lived still seems like so much fun, How can you explain a game, just kick the can and run?
And why would boys put baseball cards between bicycle spokes,

And for a nickel red machines had little bottled Cokes?
This life seemed so much easier and slower in some ways, I love the new technology but I sure miss those days.
So time moves on and so do we, and nothing stays the same, But I sure love to reminisce and walk down memory lane.
TWENTY TRUTHS TO REMEMBER - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#TWENTY-TRUTHS-TO-REMEMBER

2. If you worry, you don't pray. If you pray, don't worry.
3. As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home every day.
4. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.
5. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knots.
6. Do the math and count your blessings.
7. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.
8. Dear God: I have a problem. It's me.
9. Silence is often misinterpreted, not ever misquoted.
10. Laugh every day, it's like inner jogging.
11. The most important things in your home are not things.
12. Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.
13. There is no key to happiness... The door is always open.
14. A grudge is a heavy thing to carry.
15. He who dies with the most toys is still dead.
16. We do not remember days, but moments. Life moves too fast, so enjoy your precious moments.
17. Nothing is real to you until you experience it, otherwise it's just hearsay.
18. It's all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again. Just be sure to flush when you are done.
19. Surviving and living your life successfully requires courage. The goals and dreams you're seeking require courage and risk-taking. Learn from the turtle, it only makes progress when it sticks out it's neck.
20. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.
THE
ROSE - - - http://www.theGETshow.com
. info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#THE-ROSE
A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day. Feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was asking the older preacher for some advice.
The older preacher walked up to a rose bush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing any of the petals. The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and ministry.
But, because of his great respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try and unfold the rosebud while keeping every petal intact. It wasn't long before he realized how impossible this was to do.
Noticing the young preacher's inability to unfold the rosebud without tearing it, the older preacher began to recite the following poem:
It is only a tiny rosebud
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
Then, in my hands, they die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
The flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So, I'll trust in Him for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the Pilgrim's way.
The pathway that lies before me
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person,
an hour to be friends with them,
a day to love them
and an entire lifetime to appreciate them.
THE BEST GARDEN FOR LIFE - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com

COWBOY JAKE - http://www.theGETshow.com
. info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#COWBOY-JAKE
Jake, the rancher went one day, to fix a distant fence.
The wind was cold and gusty; the clouds rolled gray and dense.
As he pounded the last staples in and gathered his tools to go,
The temperature had fallen; the wind and snow began to blow.
When he finally reached his pickup, he felt a heavy heart;
From the sound of that ignition, he knew it wouldn't start!
So Jake did what most of us would do, had we been there,
He humbly bowed his balding head and sent aloft a prayer.
As he turned the key for one last time, he said
"Ah! Dang this luck!"
They found him three days later, frozen stiff in that old truck.
Now Jake had been around in life and done his share of roaming.
But when he saw Heaven, he was shocked -- it looked just like Wyoming!
Of all the saints in Heaven, his favorite was St. Peter.
(Now, this line ain't really needed, but it helps with rhyme and meter).
So, they set and talked a minute or two, or maybe it was three.
Nobody was keeping score -- in Heaven time is free.
"I've always heard," Jake said to Pete, "That God will answer prayer,
But one time when I asked for help, well, He plain just wasn't WASN'T
there!"
"Does God answer prayers of some and ignore the prayers of others?
That don't seem exactly square -- I know all men are brothers."
"Or does He randomly reply without good rhyme or reason?
Maybe, it's the time of day, the weather or the season."
"Now I ain't trying to act smart, it's just the way I feel.
And I was wondering, could you tell me -- just exactly 'what’s the DEAL'
?!"
Peter listened patiently, and when old Jake was done,
There were smiles of recognition and he said, "So, YOU'RE the one!"
"That day your truck just wouldn't start - you sent your prayer a
flying.
You gave us all a real bad time, with hundreds of us trying."
"A thousand angels rushed to check the status of your file,
But Jake! We had not heard from you in quite a long, LONG while."
"And though all prayers are answered and God ain't got no
"quota",
He didn't recognize your voice and started a truck in Minnesota!"
And the moral of this story might be something like . . .
YOU'D BETTER KEEP IN TOUCH WITH
GOD, SO WHEN YOU GET UP TO THE "GATE",
HE WON'T THINK YOU'RE SOMEONE ELSE FROM ANOTHER TOWN OR STATE!
Plus . . . God always loves to hear from His children!
PS: If you need God's "phone number", it is Jeremiah 33:3 - "Call unto me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you knowest not."

HOW TO DEAL WITH STRESS - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#HOW-TO-DEAL-WITH-STRESS
A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "how heavy is this glass of water?" Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it."
"If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."
He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, soon! er or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on. As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden."
"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can." "Relax; pick them up later after you've rested. Life is short. Enjoy it!

WHY WOMEN CRY - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#WHY-WOMEN-CRY
A little boy asked his mother, "Why are you crying?" "Because I'm a woman," she told him.
"I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will."
Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?"
"All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.
The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.
Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked, "God, why do women cry so easily?"
God said:
"When I made the woman she had to be special.
I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort.
I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children.
I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.
I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.
I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.
I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.
And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed."
"You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."
10 THINGS GOD WON'T ASK - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com

2. God won't ask the square footage of your house, He will ask how many people you welcomed into your home.
3. God won't ask about the clothes you had in your closet, He will ask how many you helped to clothe.
4. God won't ask what your highest salary was. He will ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.
5. God won't ask what your job title was. He will ask if you performed your job to the best of our ability.
6. God won't ask how many friends you had. He will ask how many people to whom you were a friend.
7. God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived, He will ask how you treated your neighbors.
8. God won't ask about the color of your skin, He will ask about the e content of your character.
9. God won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation. He will lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.
10. God won't have to ask who you consider a keeper, He already knows..
IF ONLY I KNEW - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#IF-ONLY-I-KNEW
IN MEMORY OF 9-11

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.
I LOVE YOU - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#I-LOVE-YOU

One morning you will never wake up, do all your friends know you love them?
I was thinking... If I didn't wake up today, tomorrow or next week, and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed, friendships that needed rekindling or three words needing to be said.
Let every one of your friends know you love them. Even if you think they don't love you back, you would be amazed at what those three little words and a smile can do.
And just in case GOD calls me home before I see you again....... I LOVE YA!!!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SPECIAL KINDNESS

Did You Remember My Birthday? - http://www.theGETshow.com . info@theGETshow.com
http://www.eugeneandtex.com/inspirationalstories.htm#DID-YOU-REMEMBER
As you well know, we are getting closer to my birthday. Every year there is a celebration in my honor and I think that this year the celebration will be repeated. During this time there are many people shopping for gifts, there are many radio announcements, TV commercials, and in every part of the world everyone is talking that my birthday is getting closer and closer.
It is really very nice to know, that at least once a year, some people think of me. As you know, the celebration of my birthday began many years ago. At first people seemed to understand and be thankful of all that I did for them, but in these times, no one seems to know the reason for the celebration. Family and friends get together and have a lot of fun, but they don't know the meaning of the celebration.
I remember that last year there was a great feast in my honor. The dinner table was full of delicious foods, pastries, fruits, assorted nuts and chocolates. The decorations were exquisite and there were many, many beautifully wrapped gifts. But, do you want to know something? I wasn't invited. I was the guest of honor and they didn't remember to send me an invitation. The party was for me, but when that great day came, I was left outside, they closed the door in my face......... and I wanted to be with them and share their table.
In truth, that didn't surprise me because in the last few years all close their doors to me. Since I was not invited, I decided to enter the party without making any noise. I went in and stood in a corner. They were all drinking; there were some who were drunk and telling jokes and laughing at everything. They were having a great time. To top it all, this big fat man all dressed in red wearing a long white beard entered the room yelling Ho-Ho-Ho! He seemed drunk. He sat on the sofa and all the children ran to him, saying : "Santa Claus, Santa Claus"... as if the party were in his honor !
At 12 midnight all the people began to hug each other ; I extended my arms waiting for someone to hug me and .... do you know .... no one hugged me. Suddenly they all began to share gifts. They opened them one by one with great expectation. When all had been opened, I looked to see if, maybe, there was one for me. What would you feel if on your birthday everybody shared gifts and you did not get one ? I then understood that I was unwanted at that party and quietly left.
Every year it gets worse. People only remember to eat and drink, the gifts, the parties and nobody remembers me. I would like this Christmas that you allow me to enter into your life. I would like that you recognize the fact that almost two thousand years ago I came to this world to give my life for you, on the cross, to save you. Today, I only want that you believe this with all you heart. I want to share something with you. As many didn't invite me to their party, I will have my own celebration, a grandiose party that no one has ever imagined, a spectacular party. I'm still making the final arrangements. Today I am sending out many invitations and there is an invitation for you. I want to know if you wish to attend and I will make a reservation for you and write your name with golden letters in my great guest book. Only those on the guest list will be invited to the party. Those who don't answer the invitation, will be left outside. Do you know how you can answer this invitation? it is by sending it to others whom you care for...
I'll be waiting for all of you to attend my party this year...

America the Beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.
Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.
Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine,
Choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain.
From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
and a need to always pray.
We've kept God in our temples,
how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.
We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges
who throw reason out the door,
Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the womb.
You think that God's not angry,
that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?
How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?
If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:
Then God will hear from Heaven
and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.
But, America the Beautiful,
if you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God withdraw
His hand from Thee.
~Judge Roy Moore
